I think the trees are turning later this year, and I don't really know why. I know its been dryer this season, and it has been a warmer too. I have heard some folks say that the colors wouldn't be as brilliant because of the dry weather, but I think we still have some very colorful trees. What do you think?

"I THINK that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.
A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the sweet earth's flowing breast;
A tree that looks at God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;
A tree that may in summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;
Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.
Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree."
by Joyce Kilmer
I had to recite this for Mrs. Hawley's 6th grade class. Funny how you can remember stuff like this, but not what you had for lunch yesterday.
I am impressed! The poem that I remember the best is, "Stopping By the Woods on a Snowy Evening," by Robert Frost. The limerick that I best remember is "The Lady of Lynn." It goes like this:
"There once was a lady of Lynn,
Who was exceedingly thin,
And when she assayed,
To drink lemonade,
She slipped through the straw and fell in!"
BTW, my dad could quote many poems and would do so on special occasions. One that I remember as being a favorite was "The Raven," by Edgar Allen Poe.
Great pictures. I've been enjoying the trees on my walk home in the mornings myself.
I've got an Auden poem or two memorized...
