What is this?
I am waiting for the Duke to tell me what this is. I have posted another pic (the top one from Wikepedia) for easier ID. Then I will post more info about it.
To my surprise, my son has answered the question as to what this is. His second guess was Northern Krill, which is the correct answer. Now what is surprising is that according to the info given on Planet Earth, krill (in general) are the most abundant creatures on earth, by weight. One swarm can contain 2 million tons! That is a lot of fish food!

Dad,
Are you really taking pictures of the TV?
Mom, make him just watch the movie!!
Except, maybe this is the only way he'll stay awake watching it... good idea, mom.
That's funny Ben. You could answer the question if you would like.
Shrimp
or probably a Northern Krill
You're right on the 2nd guess. Now I will add to my original post some very surprising news about these creatures.
You forgot to ask how many times he has to watch it to see it all. The video has some amazing footage of the world and the animals in it. Remember his comment on pictures, "They're free!" He's hooked, line and sinker. Hope you're looking forward to your new classes.
the scientific name is either Gonnafishwidem shrimpus or Gonnasteamemandtheneatemallup shrimpus. Both species can be the same depending on one's angling skills.
That is funny. Wikepedia says the name is Meganyctiphanes norvegica (for Northern krill.) Can you say that 3 times real fast?
Wait, I know what that is! It's a shrimpus makemBevsickasadogifsheeatsjustone.
What was I thinking? Our creek was so full of them last summer I kicked a half dozen into the boat running the outboard to put the boat on the trailer.
Mighty tasty little critters
I feel Bev's pain. Not being able to eat seafood is a punishment no one should have to suffer. Maybe she can eat them in heaven!
