The Pickle Story

So this epi deals with Aunt Bea's entering her pickles in the contest at the county fair. She is up against Clara Edwards who has won several years in a row. Now we get down to the trivia questions. BTW, these really aren't too hard as long as you keep up with the shows on WFMY (Ch. 2 in Greensboro.)

1. At the beginning of the show, how many years in a row had Clara won the blue ribbon for her pickles?
2. How many years in a row has Aunt Bea lost in the same contest?
3. What did Mr. Edwards tell Clara about her pickles?
4. How did Andy and Barney get rid of Aunt Bea's batch of pickles after switching them with the store-bought pickles?
5. What was the one-word term that one of the judges used to describe Aunt Bea's pickles at the fair?
6. Who won the blue ribbon in the pickle contest at the end of the show?
7. How many quarts did Aunt Bea make in order to have some for the fair toward the end of the show?

OK, I'll give it a guess:
1. 12
2. 5
3. she went wild with spice
4. Gave them to drivers coming through town for safe driving awards
5. kerosene
6. Mrs. Edwards
7. 12

OK, a few guesses in there, funny episode, reminded me of a neighbor (who will remain nameless)'s pickles. Her's were supposed to be good, as were my grandmother's, but I simply didn't like pickles. Mrs. High (oops, let it slip out) used to get mad at me for not eating her pickles. Aunt Bee also made some jelly that smelled like gas leaking. Wonder how she was such a good cook but didn't know how to make pickles or jelly?

Some answers are correct and others logically are incorrect. I'll allow a little more time for others to finish. Then I will come out with the answers. Thanks Duke, for your quick response.

4.They gave them Away.

Grading the only two papers to be turned in:
Here is the answer sheet:
1. 11
2. 11
3. Mr. Edwards said that he his time would come, he didn't think they would put down a pickle that could stand up to hers.
4. They gave them away as safe driving awards.
5. Kerosene
6. 16 (a double batch)

So the Duke got these correct:
4, 5, & 6

Wild wild west got these correct:
1, partial credit for 3, 4 is correct but not as complete as Duke's answer, 5, and 6

(She was Clara Edwards in this epi.) So I would say that wild wild west wins, and that is how the west won. Sorry.

I might add that while the competition was close and exciting, it would be good to have more participants.
