Dr. King Statue

Well, it seems that Rocky Mount, NC has decided to abandon the dream of having a statue of Dr. Martin Luther King, because no matter what it looked like, there would always be someone to criticize the likeness that is portrayed. Here are two pics which show two different statues that were being considered.
It certainly is easier to find fault with an artist of any type, than to actually complete a work of art yourself. We have no shortage of music critics, I might add, and I suppose everyone has a right to express their opinions, but it is sad to think that these two works of art will not be used, at least where they were intended to be.

Wolfpack going bowling?

Well, can it be possible? The Wolfpack football team going to a bowl? That was a great comeback against the Maryland Terapins on Saturday. It is a positive finish to the somewhat disappointing regular season schedule! Go Pack!

Happy Thanksgiving

I want to wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving. I hope you get to eat your favorite meal, and plenty of it, just don't eat too much and get sick. We're having roast beef, which is just fine with me. I sorta feel guilty eatin' turkey ever since I saw that turkey singing that song on the Hallmark ecard. You'll have to check it out if you haven't seen it. I don't want to spoil it for you but its the old tune of "I will survive" with a few new words. We all have much to be thankful for, and many times we don't realize how we have been blessed. I thank God for my family and friends, and the fact that I still have a job. My prayers are with those that have already or will be losing theirs, and don't think that I don't know what it is like to lose a job as I have lost two, the first being about this time of the year, so I remember what its like not having a job going into this holiday season. God bless us everyone, and may we honor Him in all we do.

Halloween-Birthday Party

OK, so I know its been a while since my last blog, but I have been waiting for some of these pics to come to me from some people who have these new-fangled cameras that can put the shots right on your computer without the use of a scanner. We had a great time at my sister Sue's birthday party. I have one of her in her cat costume here. Everyone had great time, enjoying the homemade pizza, fresh fruit and birthday cake (Boston Cream Pie.) The party was actually the day before Halloween (and Sue's birthday) so we went trick or treating with little Adele (dressed as a skunk) the following night.

Family time

I am visiting the family for a couple days while my brother Tommy is visiting sister Sue in Durham. I have attatched a pic of the house we grew up in. It is in Trinity Park. It was a solid white house all the time we lived there, but now it is green, although you can't tell with the sun hitting the upper level and the porch shades the lower. We took baby Adele, Sue's granddaughter, trick or treating in the area last night. I will have to post pics of folks in their costumes at a later time. The sidewalks were crammed with folks in their Halloween costumes trying to make it to as many houses as they could. It was good to see that this tradition hasn't completely fallen by the wayside.
